1182 Louis XVI style mounted tulipwood vitrine table<br />
Late 19th century, the rectangular hinged ratcheted glazed paneled top opening to a<br />
grey upholstered interior above a paneled frieze decorated with ribbon-tied drapery<br />
swags over square tapering guilloche-inset legs, 23'' H x 48.5'' W x 25.5'' D,<br />
est:$2500/4000. Provenance: The Elizabeth DarakjianTrust, Glendale, CA<br />
Condition: Structurally sound. Mounts roughly cast. General marks, nicks and<br />
scratches commensurate with age and use. With areas of lifting, minor losses, patched<br />
repair and overpainted restoration to veneer overall. Ratchet mechanism works well.<br />
Interior lining in good condition. No key.<br />
1183 A pair of Louis XV/XVI style figural candelabra<br />
Late 19th century, gilt and patinated metal, each in the form of a classical maiden<br />
holding a torch issuing seven candle branches suspending luster chains and drops,<br />
surmounted by a faceted spire, supported on an acanthus-cast base, electrified, 2 pcs,<br />
50'' H x 15'' Dia., est:$5000/7000. Provenance: The Elizabeth DarakjianTrust,<br />
Glendale, CA<br />
Condition: Likely assembled from various elements - candelabra and possibly<br />
chandeliers. The figures appear to be patinated white metal, while the gilt torch and<br />
base appear to be bronze. Candlearms and glass elements of a later date. Nozzles<br />
holding spires likely later still. Figures and older elements nicely cast and chased.<br />
Candlearms somewhat stylized. General marks, scratches and rubbing to surfaces<br />
overall. Minor chipped losses to glass elements. Spire to one with tip broken off. Some<br />
spotting, polish residue and green oxidation to bases. Wiring should be checked by a<br />
qualified electrician prior to use.<br />
1184 French School, 19th c., reclining woman, pastel<br />
Woman reclining holding flower garlands near a stream, appears unsigned, pastel on<br />
paper under glass, oval: 22'' H x 27.5'' W, est:$1000/1500. Exhibited: Exposition<br />
Universelle de 1855, Paris, France, Honorable Mention (see stamp verso)<br />
Condition: Generally good condition with no evidence of staining, foxing or tears. Not<br />
examined out of the frame.<br />
1185 Von Borman, early 20th c, woman w/ wreath in hair<br />
Signed lower right: Von Borman, oil on canvas, 20'' H x 16'' W, est:$900/1200<br />
Condition: Visual: Minor surface dirt. Blacklight: Spots of touch-up throughout the<br />
figure's face and neck. A 2'' vertical repaired tear with corresponding patch in the lower<br />
center quadrant.<br />
1186 School of Sir Henry Raeburn, portrait of a woman<br />
Mrs. (Margaret) Irvine J. Boswell, appears unsigned, oil on canvas laid to canvas, 30'' H<br />
x 25'' W, est:$1000/2000. Note: An older label affixed to stretcher reads the following:<br />
Margaret - third daughter of James Christie of Durie. Wife of James Irvine Boswell of<br />
Kingcausie, Aberdeenshire, whose father was Lord Balmuto, a Scottish judge and<br />
nephew of Dr. <strong>John</strong>son's biographer<br />
Condition: Visual: Minor stable craquelure throughout. Blacklight: Spots of touch-up<br />
concentrated mainly on the woman's hair with a few minor spots on the shoulders, face<br />
and chest. A vertical 2'' repair with touch-up in the left center quadrant. Older<br />
restoration evident to the left and right of the figure's neck. Touch-up along the edges.<br />
Older varnish fluoresces.
