Figure 5-2 shows an overview of <strong>SAN</strong> Volume Controller, virtualizing source storage from<br />

various vendors.<br />

The <strong>SAN</strong> Volume Controller is highly scalable, providing an easy growth path to two-n nodes<br />

(grow in a pair of nodes). Presently, <strong>SAN</strong> Volume Controller supports FC <strong>and</strong> iSCSI <strong>SAN</strong><br />

interfaces. It is external storage RAID controller-independent, providing a continual <strong>and</strong><br />

ongoing process to qualify additional types of controllers. <strong>SAN</strong> Volume Controller is able to<br />

utilize disks internally located within the nodes (solid state disks) as well as the disks locally<br />

attached to the nodes (SAS drives).<br />
