Olive tree flower<strong>in</strong>g is earlier 2 days/10 years <strong>in</strong> northern Adriatic, while <strong>in</strong> Dalmatia 3<br />

days/10 years. Earlier olive ripe 2 days/10 years is observed <strong>in</strong> Dalmatia, while earlier pick<strong>in</strong>g is<br />

not just a result of weather conditions, but it depends on available olive oil process<strong>in</strong>g plants,<br />

amount of yield that can be processed at def<strong>in</strong>ed moment, as well as on market demand for<br />

certa<strong>in</strong> oil quality.<br />

Analysis of <strong>climate</strong> <strong>change</strong> impacts on plants <strong>in</strong>dicated <strong>in</strong> all <strong>climate</strong> zones an earlier<br />

beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g of flower<strong>in</strong>g t of observed plants <strong>in</strong> spr<strong>in</strong>g, which is a result of warmer w<strong>in</strong>ter and<br />

spr<strong>in</strong>g. In autumn there is no such unambiguous delay <strong>in</strong> colour<strong>in</strong>g and leaves fall<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> all<br />

<strong>climate</strong> zones, i.e. vegetation period extension is observed <strong>in</strong> the <strong>in</strong>land, but not <strong>in</strong> the<br />

mounta<strong>in</strong>ous <strong>Croatia</strong>. These results are <strong>in</strong> accordance with observed more expressed mean air<br />

temperature rise <strong>in</strong> spr<strong>in</strong>g than <strong>in</strong> autumn.<br />

Table 3-2. L<strong>in</strong>ear trends of phenophases (day/10 years) for common lilac, apple and olive trees<br />

at selected stations <strong>in</strong> <strong>Croatia</strong> mostly <strong>in</strong> the period 1961-2008. Significant l<strong>in</strong>ear trends at the<br />

level ≤ 0.05 are <strong>in</strong> bold.<br />
