It was a short night of racing at the East Moline Speedway on Friday, April 29, as only three late model heats were completed before the rains come . Gory Webb from Davenport . Ron Weedon from Pleasant Volley, and Mark Powell from Davenport carried the checkered flog for their respective heat victories . Sunday . May 1 . high winds and rain forced cancellation of the complete program . On Friday, May 6 . Jeff Barrett from Rock Island won his first bomber feature of the season . Brent Pryor from Hillsdale won the first heat in the open wheel division, with Ken Kindelsperger from Moline winning the second heat . Rob Connors from Benendorf won the action pocked feature went . Al Anton from East Molina won the tint heat in the street stock division. while Shone Davis from Rock Island won the second heat . Darrell Hammering from East Moline picked up the feature win . Bobby Jackson from Rock Island was the winner in the late model trophy dash with LeRoy Brenner from Joy picking up the semi victory . Young Jackson was very consistent as he lead all thirty lops to pick up his first feature in a 7th Design Tri- City Buggy car and the fourth different feature winner of the season at the East Moline Speedway . Figure 8 racing on Saturday. May 7 was cancelled because of rain . It was a cold one on Sunday, May 8 . but Jeff Barrett was hot once again as he won the bomber feature . John Scherer from Davenport won the first heal in the open wheel division with Ernie Lilly from Morrison winning the second heat. John Scherer then came back to in the feature event . Ron Hillard from East Moline picked up his fint victory over as he won the first heat in the street stock division . Bob Solver from Colons won the second heat with Tom Bull from Rock Island claiming the feature win . LeRoy Brenner won the first heat in the late model division, while Mike Cothran from Moline won the second heat. Steve Johnson from Comanche wheeled to the victory in the third heat and Hershel Roberts from East Moline took home the semi in . Rick Wages from Moline won his first late model feature . thus bringing up the total to five dif- Brent feature winners at the East Moline Speedway . Wages was the 1982 street stock point champion and is looking very strong in the Jim Houk owned race car . Rain forced cancellation of racing action on Friday, May 13 . On Sunday, May 15, Bob Daminackl from Bettendorf was back and survived the 16 car bomber feature to take victory for his second time this season . Randy Wages from Moline and Jim Merlin won their respect" hear in the open wheel division . Jack Lueth from Davenport won the feature event, taking the lead on lop nine . Ran Millage from East Moline on the first heat in the street stock divlsidn with Darrell Hammering winning the second heat. Gary Reinhart from Mollne is back in street stock and mode his presence known as he wan the feature event . Heat winner in the late model division were LeRoy been . nor Gary Weli and RdBe Frink from Davenport . Lyle Kammer from Davenport took the semi victory while another different winner took the checkers for the feature. Duke Jackson from Clinton has been racing for marry yeah and picked up his first East Moline Speedway feature victory, and did a very fine lob of driving as he was challenged strongly most of the distance by Rick Wages and Rollie Fronk, with Frink taking second . Duke Jackson claimed the semi victory . <strong>In</strong> the fifty lap feature, Rollie Frink took the win, as he led from lap thirteen and went on to become the seventh different feature winner in the late model division this year . On Saturday . May 21 . we got two heats in of the Figure 8 debut, then the rains came. Jack Schmidt from Davenport over took Denny Anton Jr. from Green Rock to win the first heat . The second heat was won by Tom Bull as he took command early m the race . On Sunday, May 22, Bob Domin acki was back in the winners circle as he captured the bomber feature for the third time this season. Randy Wages made it a perfect night for himself as he picked up the first heat and the feature in the open wheel division. Buddy Dederick from Davenport won the second heat in the open wheel division . John Freeman from Rock Island was a winner in the first heat of the street stock division . while Shone Davis from the some city picked up the second heat . Jeff Marburger from Sabulo got on track and won the feature evenl- Heat winners in the late model division were Randy Mohring from Peoria, Mike Cothran and LeRoy Brenner . Lyle Kammer from Davenport took the victory in the last chance semi . LeRoy Brenner then came back to make a perfect evening for himself as he won the feature event and become the eighth different late model feature winner this season at the East Moline Speedway . On Friday . May 27, racing competition was rained out at the parting time of 7 :00 p .m. as we had a cloud bunt that washed out any intentions of racing . On Saturday. May 28, Scott Wilsey in a 1%7 Chevelle won the one-n-one spectator dreg race over Jamey Barrett in a Ford station wagon . it was not without contact as both cars went int o turn four wall, with Wilsey recovering the fastest and crossing the finish line tint . Figure 8 artist Tom bull won the first heat . with Denny Anton Jr . winning the second heat . Cliff Garwood from Moline sow the checkers for the third heat win . There were three different lop leaders in the feature, with Anton Jr . making it a perfect night for himself as he started from the rear of a 19 car field and take the lead on lap 14 and go on to win the event . On Sunday, May 29 . Jeff Barren wan his third bomber feature of the season . Heat winners in the open wheel division were Bob Pier from Davenport and Max Chootes also from Davenport . Rees Klndelsperger took the lead on lap three of the feature and ran flawless to the checkered flog , Lyle Bushong from Colons and Shone Davis won heats in the street stock division . while IN* feature was rained out . Heat winners in the late model division were Ran Weedon from Plea . sant Valley . Ran Gustaf from East Moline, and LeRoy Brenner . Lyle Kammer picked up the semi victory and the Valvoline 50 feature was rained out . Point leaders going into June I an Bob Dominocki in the bombers, Terry Manly in the open wheel, Shares Davis in the street lack . and Gary Webb in the late model . Racer Round-Up By Romer (Ca r Tri-County Speedway Tri-County Speedway in Mendota is showing everyone who attends, what a fine track it truly is . No high speed "demolition derby" at this track ; only good, clean, competitive auto racing - the kind we all wish we could find at every track . The current track record is currently held by Mike Salsman of Princeton, who qualified May 20 with a time of 17 :56. Eddie Bohlander of Glasford sits at the top of the Street, Stock point standings with 163 points to date . Racing in Mendota is every Friday evening ; gates open at 5 p.m ., with time trials at 6 p .m . and racing beginning at 7 p .m. A special date to remember is the big July 4th celebration race when gates will open at 1 :30 p .m . Time trials will start at 3 p .m . and the races will begin at 4 p .m . The fairgrounds will also have a roast beef dinner on the grounds that day, as well as a fireworks display at dusk . Another date to remember is July 28th, when Tri-County Speedway will host the Busch Series races . This should be another race that you won't want to miss . Illinois Frame <strong>In</strong>c . Bureau County Speedway The Bureau County Speedway i n Princeton has been plagued with rain problems like so many other tracks across Illinois. It seems like every time the green flag falls, so . .does the rain! But Bureau County has something that makes them the envy of all the tracks ; and that is their loyal race fans who pack that grandstand every race program, rain or shine . Eddie Bohlander, Glasford, again dominates the Street Stock division in Princeton . But Tom Hamburg, Dixon, and Bob Teauseau, Spring Valley, have their own ideas, and follow Bohlander by only 5 and 12 points respectively . The Bomber Division at Bureau County is currently being led by Jerry Zurlienne, of Princeton . Unfortunately, Zurlienne's racing wins are over for awhile; his car was "claimed" following the May 28 feature race in which he took first place . Future special race dates at Bureau County Speedway include the Busch Series race on June 30, and then the track's mid-season championship race on July 2.
