Configuring a local <strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong><br />

In a local configuration, all <strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong> components—client and server—run on the same<br />

machine. (The server component is embedded in the client executable.)<br />

To configure a local <strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong> in Windows:<br />

1. Install the ODBC software and the client software on the system where your local<br />

<strong>Data</strong><strong>Server</strong> resides.<br />

2. Make sure that you registered the data source with the ODBC driver correctly on the<br />

appropriate machine.<br />

Once you have set up your environment, you can build a schema holder <strong>for</strong> your MS <strong>SQL</strong> <strong>Server</strong><br />

database and connect using the client executable. See the “Creating a schema holder” section<br />

on page 5–15 <strong>for</strong> instructions.<br />
