10.2 Team-ball-sport and gender<br />

There are slight but quite consistent differences <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>jury patterns among men and<br />

women. Generally <strong>in</strong> all team ball sports, women tend toward more contusions and<br />

bruises as well as distortions and spra<strong>in</strong>s, while o<strong>the</strong>r types <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>juries as muscle <strong>in</strong>juries,<br />

dislocations and open wounds are less frequent (table/figure 29-34).
