Pascal BONIFACE – Direc<strong>to</strong>r, IRIS<br />

Pascal Boniface is Direc<strong>to</strong>r of <strong>the</strong> Institut de Relations Internationales et Strategiques (IRIS - <strong>the</strong><br />

French institute of international <strong>and</strong> strategic relations) <strong>and</strong> a member of <strong>the</strong> teaching staff of <strong>the</strong><br />

Institute of European Studies at <strong>the</strong> University of Paris 8.<br />

He also edits La Revue Internationale et Strategique (International <strong>and</strong> Strategic Review) (published<br />

quarterly since 1991) <strong>and</strong> L’Annee Strategique (The Strategic Year) (published annually since 1985).<br />

He has written or edited some forty books on international relations, nuclear issues <strong>and</strong> disarmament,<br />

<strong>the</strong> balance of power between world powers, <strong>the</strong> French foreign policy <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> impact of sport on<br />

international relations.<br />

Pascal Boniface has published numerous articles in international geopolitical journals <strong>and</strong> regularly<br />

contributes <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> media, both national <strong>and</strong> international, written <strong>and</strong> audiovisual.<br />

He is a columnist for <strong>the</strong> weekly publication Actuel (Morocco), <strong>and</strong> dailies La Croix (France), La<br />

Vanguardia (Spain), <strong>and</strong> Al Ittihad (United Arab Emirates).<br />

He chaired <strong>the</strong> French Football Federation s Commission de Prospective sur l’Avenir du Football<br />

(Commission on <strong>the</strong> Future of Football). He is now General Secretary of <strong>the</strong> Fondation du Football<br />

(Football Foundation).<br />

Pascal Boniface is a Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite <strong>and</strong> a Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur.<br />

Sarah LACARRIERE – Researcher, IRIS<br />

Sarah Lacarriere has been a researcher at IRIS since 2009. She specialises in international mechanisms<br />

for crisis management, <strong>and</strong> participates in <strong>the</strong> activities of <strong>the</strong> defence <strong>and</strong> security cluster. She also<br />

undertakes research on sustainable development issues, more specifically on international climate<br />

negotiations. In addition, she works on issues related <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> internationalisation <strong>and</strong> geopolitics of <strong>the</strong><br />

sport, <strong>and</strong> collaborated with Joel Bouzou in producing <strong>the</strong> work "Peace through Sport" (published by<br />

IRIS / Arm<strong>and</strong> Colin, 2010). Along with Pim Verschuuren, Sarah was responsible for coordinating <strong>the</strong><br />

IRIS research program on <strong>Sports</strong> Betting <strong>and</strong> Corruption in 2011.<br />

Sarah Lacarriere holds a Master 2 (Research) degree in Defence <strong>and</strong> International Security (University<br />

Pierre Mendes France - Grenoble II) <strong>and</strong> a Master 2 (Professional) degree in Global Security<br />

(Universite Montesquieu - Bordeaux IV). She currently heads up <strong>the</strong> "International Relations" basic<br />

education diploma (Master 1 level) at IRIS Sup'.<br />
