assistants: Utrecht in 2001 and Arnhem/Nijmegen in 2002.<br />

Nurse practitioners<br />

is based on developments in the United Kingdom and the<br />

US. Nurse practitioners can take on responsibilities and tasks<br />

formerly allocated to physicans, thereby helping to bridge the<br />

shortage of physicians.<br />
