Innovative Thinking, Timeless Values
WhAT FUeLS ONe OF AMeRICA’S hottest growth companies?
You might be surprised by the answer off ered by Suzanne (higham)
Stanton (McIntire ’83). Cutting-edge thinking and an international perspective
are important, she says, but even more important are the sort of
fundamental values that never go out of style.
Stanton is a Regional Managing Director of Resources Global Professionals,
a consulting fi rm with over 80 offi ces and 4,100 employees around
the world. She is also a McIntire School Advisory Board member.
“We’re a new kind of professional services fi rm,” Stanton says. “We
develop client service teams that actually become part of the client’s organization
on a project basis. We help clients change their businesses from
the inside out by providing teams that address initiatives in the areas of
accounting and fi nance, information management, human capital, supply
chain management, legal services, and internal audit. It’s gratifying to see
that the basic model works—and that it works around the world.”
Th e core of the company’s business philosophy, though, is embodied
in the acronym TIeL, which stands for Talent, Integrity, enthusiasm, and
Loyalty. “We take those words seriously,” says Stanton. “As a growing international
company, we fi nd that their meaning transcends global boundaries.
Th ey’ve helped us build success in serving clients in more than 50
countries.”
Th at success has not gone unrecognized. For the past fi ve years, Forbes
has ranked the company among its “200 Best Small Companies.” BusinessWeek
recently ranked Resources Global Professionals 21st among “hot
Growth Companies.” Fortune named the fi rm one of the “100 Fastest-
Growing Companies.”
Founded in 1996, Resources Global Professionals is a spin-off from
Deloitte & Touche, where Stanton worked for 13 years. She joined Resources
Global Professionals in 1997, when the company had nine offi ces.
Stanton says she’s enjoyed participating in a growing enterprise. But
most of all, she says, she feels pleased to be part of a successful organization
that’s built on teamwork and loyalty.
“After 24 years of work experience, I can honestly say that I love this
company,” she says. “I really appreciate working with people who strive
for excellence while acting with integrity. It’s consistent with Jeff ersonian
principles, and it’s defi nitely consistent with everything I learned at the
Comm School. Th e values that were central to U.Va. have played a central
role in my career. When you use integrity as your internal barometer, decisions
are easy.”
