3 The third competency exam serves to assess whether a student has developed the
required competencies during the second and third years of study to a sufficient degree (all
10 competencies at level 2). The result of the competency exam is used to advise the
board of examiners, on the basis of which the board of examiners will decide whether the
student is competent to enter the graduation phase, and as a result, is allowed to carry out
his graduation plan. The graduation track of a regular student comprises an entire
academic year (60 ECTS credits = 1680 hours). The graduation track of a fast-track
student comprises half an academic year (30 ECTS credits = 840 hours).
4 The fourth and final competency exam serves to assess whether the student is qualified to
start operating independently in the professional field. Based on the result of the
competency exam, the board of examiners will make a decision. If this decision is positive,
the student will receive his bachelor’s degree.
5 If the student passes a competency exam in the main phase, he will be granted the ECTS
credits that belong to the competency exam according to the curriculum.
6 The student is given proof of participation and the result of the competency exam.
7 The assessor will submit a dated and signed document which shows the result obtained by
the student to the staff member who is in charge of recording academic progress.
7.6.4 Second opportunity regarding competency exams
1 Competency exams will be offered at fixed, predetermined dates/times within the study
programme.
2 A student who – by way of exception and without complying with the conditions for
participation – is granted permission by the board of examiners to take the competency
exam of the propaedeutic exam at the end of the first year of study, must meet these
conditions for participation before 1 September of the calendar year in question. Until that
time, the recommendation with regard to the continuation of studies will be a conditional
one. Depending on the student’s achievements, this conditional recommendation will be
converted into a positive binding or negative binding recommendation.
7.6.5 Conditions for participation in competency development exam 1
There are no conditions for participation (for either regular or fast-track students) in competency
development exam 1.
The aim of competency development exam 1 is for the student to gain experience in competency
exams. The student will receive feedback to his competency development and progress. The
student reflects on this competency development exam 1. This allows him to realign his study
activities and prepare for competency exam 2.
7.6.6 Conditions for participation in competency development exam 2
Minimum conditions for participation (regular track) in competency exam 2: 50 ECTS credits.
Minimum conditions for participation (fast track) in competency exam 2: 50 ECTS credits.
Procedure competency exam 2:
If the student does not meet the conditions for participation in competency exam 2:
