Comparison between
Level I of ¡Ven conmigo! and Level I of ¡En español!
Any time a new foreign language book is adopted, one must take into consideration the
differences between the older text and the newer one. Differences exist in the target vocabulary
used in each and in the order and extent to which grammar is covered at each level. Level II
especially must be analyzed since the new book will present material with the assumption that
students have been taught the vocabulary and grammar skills from Level I of the same book. The
following pages are a compilation of the vocabulary and grammar skills covered by Level I of ¡En
español! that are not included in the Level I text of ¡Ven conmigo! A teacher may want to spend a
few weeks at the beginning of the year introducing second-year students to these terms and skills
so the students will not be deficient in the material covered by Level II of !En español! ; or the
teacher may want to teach each skill as it is encountered in Level II. Either way, the teacher must
be aware of these differences in order to effectively transition Level II students into the newly
adopted text.
