The so-called event of awakening
El denominado ‘evento del despertar’
This is one of the things that seekers commonly want to hear about. Someone woke up. A story about an
apparent miracle. It seems that everyone loves a story. Yet if anyone was not already awake himself or
herself, how could they ever hear any story in the first place?
Belief in not being awake is like the famous ‘carrot before the donkey’ story.
In the early stages of association with a ‘clear and true teacher’, that ‘teacher’ will not entertain the aspirant
with stories about some past event called enlightenment.
Whatever apparent event ‘happened’ for them is lost in the actuality of present wakefulness just as all
events dissolve in the actuality – like a distant bird in the sky merges with space. These clear and true
teachers quickly bring your attention back, simply and plainly to present wakefulness – presence
awareness. In this way the key is given.
It may not be what the seeker wants to hear but the clarity is obvious.
Esta es una de esas cosas que los buscadores quieren oír: ‘Alguien’ despertó. Una
historia sobre un aparente milagro. Parece que todos amamos las historias. No
obstante, si uno no estuviera ya despierto, ¿cómo podría escuchar cualquier historia, en
primer término?
La creencia en ‘no estar despierto’ es como aquella historia de ‘la zanahoria y el burro’.
En las primeras etapas de una asociación con ‘un maestro claro y verdadero’, ese
‘maestro’ no entretendrá al aspirante con historias sobre algún evento pasado
denominado ‘iluminación’. Cualquiera sea el evento ‘ocurrido’, ya se ‘perdió’ en la
actualidad de la vigilia presente, del mismo modo que todos los eventos se disuelven en
la actualidad – como un ave distante en el cielo se funde en el espacio. Estos ‘maestros
claros y verdaderos’ rápidamente vuelven tu atención atrás, simple y llanamente a la
presente vigilia – presencia conciencia. De esta manera se entrega la llave.
Puede que no sea lo que el buscador quiere oír, pero la claridad es obvia.
