Desde la 18a Bienal Internacional de Sao Paulo, cuando la conocimos, la obra de BRAUN-VEGA llena nuestra imaginación de colores vivos,
de una fantástica combinación de temas de grandes maestros con una técnica impecable, que incluye el acrílico, el collage y un movimiento que impresiona.
Ver el conjunto de su obra era un gran sueño que ahora se convierte en realidad. Creemos que la exposición de este talento peruano marcará
la historia del arte de la ciudad de Sao Paulo.

Estar con el artista Herman BRAUN-VEGA, en París, este verano, y ver las obras que van a exhibirse en la Galería Marta Traba fue una experiencia impresionante: tejer el contacto
personal con el corazón de su trabajo, con el taller mismo del artista.
Ir hasta nuestro destino significaba abandonar las zonas más turísticas de París, que poco a poco se diluyó en el paisaje que contemplábamos a través de las ventanillas del tren.
En la mente, el recuerdo de otro viaje, a Auvers-sur-Oise, donde Van Gogh realizó sus últimas obras. La experiencia de visitar los lugares de trabajo de los artistas tiene, para
mí, una fuerza fuera de lo común.
En la quietud de Arcueil, en una casa totalmente planeada para la creación artística, me encontré con BRAUN-VEGA y su obra. Estar con un gran maestro del arte era ya de por sí un regalo.
El alejamiento que ha buscado es necesario, ya que Herman, además de ser un artista conectado con su tiempo y un profundo conocedor de la Historia del Arte, es también
un pensador. Su obra refleja un recogimiento y una reflexión esenciales para su proceso creativo
En el taller recorrimos salas llenas de pinturas especialmente dispuestas para la visita, colocadas bajo una luz natural pensada para dar una percepción real de los colores y matices.
Disfrutar de sus obras y de cada palabra de Herman BRAUN-VEGA hablando de ellas, marcó de modo expresivo un proceso de curadoría de la Fundación Memorial que se
originó en 2007, con motivo de una visita al Perú, lo que fue el embrión de la actual exposición.

Braun Vega’s show during the 18th International Biennale of Sao Paolo left echoes of vivid colors, with an extraordinary mix of themes from the great masters,
rendered with impeccable technique including acrylic, collage and impressive swathes of movement.
To see this oeuvre assembled here once again is a dream come true. We believe that the show by this Peruvian talent will leave its mark on the history of the arts of the city of Sao Paolo.

Spending time with the artist Herman Braun-Vega this summer in Paris and viewing first-hand the works soon to be shown at the Marta Traba Gallery was
not only an impressive experience but also an opportunity to connect with the heart of his work, in his studio.
The landscape dissolving through the windows during the train ride there prepared me to leave behind the hectic tourist venues typical of Paris. It also brought
to mind another trip, to Auvers-sur-Oise, where Van Gogh painted his final works. Setting foot where artists live represents, for me, an exceptionally forceful
moment.
I finally met up with Braun-Vega and his œuvre in quiet Arcueil, in a house perfectly designed for the production of art works. The opportunity to be with
a great master is, in and of itself, a gift from heaven.
Being far away from everything was essential. Herman, in addition to being completely connected to the world of today and a deep connoisseur of Art History,
is also a thinker. This is reflected in his work, which in turn reveals a thinking process, linked to broader creative processes.
In his studio, we ambled through rooms filled with paintings, specifically arraigned for my visit, basking in natural light so as to bring forth their true colors
and nuances. Reveling in these works and each of Herman’s words on their subject, helped fashion a curatorial mission that germinated in 2007 during a trip
to the Memorial Foundation in Peru and that, today, finds full expression in this exhibition.
