Throughout the year, the institutions<br />

which have made a strong commitment<br />

to the local gastronomy in Cordoba hold<br />

various activities in an effort to promote<br />

and spread awareness for the excellent<br />

qualities of our cuisine. Thus, the<br />

Provincial Association of Business<br />

Owners of Cordoba, Hostecor, organises<br />

Gastronomy Days to celebrate<br />

the typical products of each season:<br />

casseroles and stews in February,<br />

Iberian pork in April, beer in June, game<br />

in September and mushrooms in<br />

November.<br />

The Cordoba Local Tourist Board has<br />

implemented the Cordoba Gastronomy<br />

Programme, an initiative that is<br />

open to all businesses dedicated to<br />

Cordovan gastronomy with a quality<br />

standard and that combines efforts to<br />

promote its excellent qualities beyond<br />

our borders.<br />

The Popular Cordovan Salmorejo<br />

Competition is organised in March by<br />

the Federación de Peñas Cordobesas<br />

(Federation of Cordovan Clubs). All<br />

residents are invited to participate.<br />

Montilla-Moriles Wine Sampling.<br />

Held annually in Cordoba, more than<br />

20 wineries participate in this event<br />

when all Cordovans come to sample<br />

the local wines and most typical tapas.<br />

There is music and many different<br />

activities including the samplings led<br />

by oenologists for interested visitors.<br />

In 2012, it will take place from the<br />

18th to the 22nd April.<br />

The Cordovan Salmorejo Day is an<br />

activity that is promoted and organised<br />

in the month of April by the Cofradía<br />

del Salmorejo Cordobés (Cordovan<br />

Salmorejo Guild). Besides the different<br />

activities aimed at promoting<br />

this truly Cordovan product, it can be<br />

sampled for free at various taverns,<br />

bars and other sector establishments<br />

on this day.<br />
