Nuestro presidente,
D. Jorge Cottet, se retira
Después de 47 años vinculado al sector de la óptica,
de ellos 11como Director de Exportación y 36 como
Administrador y Presidente del Grupo Indo, Don
Jorge Cottet toma su merecido descanso y se jubila
Nacido el mismo año que se considera el de la fundación del
Grupo Indo, durante 1937 en Sevilla,
heredó la máxima responsabilidad de la
Compañía en el año 1972, que compartió
durante 7 años con D. Antonio
Garrigosa (q.e.p.d). Posteriormente, en
1978, asume la Presidencia del Consejo
de Administración, cargo que ha mantenido
hasta estos días.
Ha sido uno de los representantes más
destacados de la industria óptica europea,
logrando que Indo se haya situado
en la 12a posición por cifra de negocio
en el mundo. También ha sabido mantener
y desarrollar un modelo de negocio
de éxito en el sector detallista, a partir
de una óptica instalada en Barcelona en
1902 (hace 106 años), establecimiento que durante la Guerra
Civil tuvieron que desplazar a Sevilla. El resultado de la escasez
y falta de suministro de material óptico en aquellos años
difíciles para dar servicio a sus clientes, obligó a fabricarse
lentes y gafas para su propio negocio, siendo el origen de Indo.
Siempre ha participado activamente en ámbitos de representatividad
a nivel nacional, como la Presidencia de la feria
ExpoOptica, y a nivel internacional como Presidente y Vocal de
Eurom I, asociación europea dedicada a la importante industria
de la óptica oftálmica. Se ha rodeado de un equipo de colaboradores
eficiente, viviendo de cerca todas aquellas vicisitudes
tanto positivas como negativas, que en su dilatada historia ha
podido conocer. Su forma de afrontar los acontecimientos, le

ha hecho próximo a las personas, creando ilusión al equipo,
animándolo y sobre todo destacando los éxitos empresariales
cada vez que se han producido. ¡Cuántas notas y palabras de
felicitación y ánimo hemos recibido de su parte durante todos
estos años! Cuando en estos días, el fatalismo y el “no” imperan
en la sociedad, se agradece la palabra amable, sincera
y motivadora por el trabajo bien hecho.
El Consejo de Administración le ha nombrado por
unanimidad Presidente Honorario de INDO
Internacional,S.A., cabecera del Grupo, como reconocimiento
de su labor, su asunción de la máxima
responsabilidad y representatividad de Indo. Don
Jorge Cottet seguirá vinculado a Indo como parte
integrante de su capital, ocupando la posición de
Vocal del Consejo de Administración, aportando su
valiosa experiencia en los ámbitos industrial, comercial
y minorista.
Las personas que hemos tenido el orgullo de trabajar
junto a él, sólo podemos decir que no lo olvidaremos,
que estará siempre presente con su caballerosidad
y elegancia en el trato, y quizás echaremos
en falta sus palabras siempre de ánimo y de coraje en nuestras
decisiones.
Amigo Jorge, y perdóname la licencia de tutearte al final de
este escrito, te deseamos larga vida, que puedas compartirla
con tu gran familia y que puedas disfrutar de los éxitos de tu
empresa por muchos años.

Our chairman, Mr Jorge Cottet, is retiring
fter 47 years in the optics industry, 11 as
exports director and 36 as manager and
chairman of the Indo Group, Mr Jorge
Cottet is retiring to take a well-deserved rest.
Born in Seville in 1937 –the same year when
the Indo Group was started–, Mr Cottet took
over the highest position in the company in 1972,
a post he shared for seven years with the late Mr
Antonio Garrigosa. In 1978, Mr Cottet took on
the position of chairman to the board of directors,
a post he has held until now.
He has been one of the most noteworthy figures
in the European optics industry, and succeeded in
placing Indo as the 12 th top company in the world
in business volume. He also developed and maintained
a successful business scheme in the retailer
sector, which started with an optician’s shop
opened in Barcelona in 1902 –106 years ago–,
which had to be displaced to Seville during the
Civil War. The shortage of optical materials obliged
the shop owners to manufacture their own lenses
and eyewear. This was the beginning of Indo.
Mr Cottet has always been an active representative
of the industry, both nationally –he
was president of ExpoOptica– and internationally,
as president and member of Eurom I, a
European Association dedicated to the ophthalmic
optics industry. He has an efficient
team of collaborators who have shared both the
positive and negative experiences he has gone
through in his professional life. His way of facing
events has brought him close to his staff as
an inspiring figure, who encouragingly
acknowledged every company success. He’s
congratulated and motivated us so much in all
these years! When fatalism and the word “no”
are so common in our society these days, a
kind, honest, encouraging word to acknowledge
good work is always appreciated.
The board of directors has unanimously
named him Honorary Chairman of INDO
Internacional, S.A., the main company in the

Group, in appreciation to his work. Mr Jorge
Cottet will continue belonging to Indo as capital
member in its board of directors, to which he will
lend his valuable experience in marketing,
retailing, and the optics industry.
Those of us who are proud to have worked
with him can only say that we’ll never forget
him, that he’ll always be present with his gentlemanliness
and kind manners, and we’ll perhaps
miss his encouraging words in our decisions.
Our friend Jorge, may you share a long life
with your family and enjoy the successes of your
company for many years to come.
