Music and eyewear interpret fashion
Ray-Ban is using music to update the spirit of “La Movida”
with two concerts in Barcelona and Madrid –on June 5
and 12 respectively–, plus a CD with the best songs from
“La movida” played by today’s top bands, which were
chosen by the public who voted via the Ray-Ban webpage.
T
he Forum FNAC in Madrid was the setting
for the press conference to present
the unedited CD“La Movida Ray-Ban”.
Famous musicians, journalists, and industry
stakeholders attended the event, including
Jaime Urrutia, Jesús Ordovás and the band
“Despistaos”, as well as Giorgio Pradi, from
Luxottica, and Paco Gamarra, from Warner.
Journalist and writer Jesús Ordovás linked the
spirit of “La Movida” with Ray-Ban since both
share the same values of freedom and creativity.
The well-known singer from the band “Gabinete
Caligari”, Jaime Urrutia, spoke about his career
and shared anecdotes from those days, and also
confessed that he has been wearing Ray-Ban
sunglasses for over 20 years, due to the brand’s
image of freedom, strong personality and rocker
lifestyle. The band “Despistaos” talked about the
current influence of “La Movida” on emerging
bands. Giorgio Pradi, general director of
Luxottica Ibérica, presented the philosophy and
involvement of Ray-Ban in this project. “Ever
since 1937 –he said–, Ray-Ban has been a symbol
of a singular lifestyle and an independent,
bold, free way of being, in the world of music,
cinema, society and fashion, with distinctive values
such as authenticity and tradition.” Paco
Gamarra, from Warner, explained that this CD
revives the 80s from a very special point of view,
since the songs included have been chosen by
the public and are the mythical ones from those
days, but performed by today’s top artists.
