SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER 2010
207 CANADIAN RAIL • 538
Fast-forward to today. Any hopes for a
significant expansion of frequencies on this route have yet
to be realized. A seventh trainset was introduced in 2009,
allowing an additional morning and afternoon departure.
Moreover, the afternoon flip has been replaced by a fulllength
departure to Vaudreuil, deadheading back to
Lucien L’Allier as train number 28.
The most significant change was moving the
evening / weekend servicing and lay-over location from a
small yard adjacent to the CP main line west of Dorion to
a purpose-built facility at MP 2.62 of the CP’s M&O
Subdivision. Trains that formerly originated or
terminated at Dorion now do so at the new Vaudreuil
station adjacent to this facility. To make operations more
fluid on this short stretch of single track line, CTC was
added between Dorion and mile 2.62. On July 1, 2010
service beyond Vaudreuil was cut-back to Hudson (from
Rigaud) because of a funding dispute with the town of
Rigaud. There is talk of service being increased from one
to two trains per day to Hudson, but nothing concrete has
come of this to date.
V i l l e
concernant le
financement).
On parle de
faire passer le
service jusqu’à
Hudson à deux
trains par jour,
mais rien de
concret n’a été
décidé à ce jour.
AMT control car 110 pulls to a stop in front of the Rigaud train station for the last time on Wednesday afternoon,
June 30, 2010. As of Thursday morning, Hudson became the western terminus for the AMT commuter service.
Peter Murphy.
l’AMT. Peter Murphy.
AMT has a grand plan of building a third main
track along CP’s Vaudreuil subdivision between Dorval
and Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, which would allow it to run up
to 84 daily trains to and from an upgraded and expanded
Lucien L’Allier station. So far, funding for this plan has
not been approved.
