About
Kevin Andrew Heslop is a multidisciplinary artist from
Canada's London® whose recent work includes the poetry
collection the correct fury of your why is a mountain (Gordon
Hill Press, 2021); art exhibitions six feet | between us (McIntosh
Gallery, 2022) and in medias res (Westland Gallery, 2023); and
an internationally award-winning, multi-media, tetralingual
poetry anthology, mo(u)vements, adapted to film and
distributed through Rose Garden Press and Astoria Pictures,
an independent film company Heslop founded in 2022. His
current work includes two series of comedic shorts, two short
films (Astoria Pictures, 2024), two co-written poetry volumes
(Baseline Press, 2024; Rose Garden Press, 2024), a book of
interviews about Medical Assistance in Dying (Gordon Hill
Press, 2025), a new full-length poetry collection, a new book
of interviews, and a collaborative art exhibition. Heslop also
serves as resident interviewer with The Miramichi Reader,
Managing Editor with Centred Magazine, and Director with
Changing Ways. With support from the London Arts Council,
Ontario Arts Council, and Canada Council for the Arts, he
lives and works at artist residencies around the world,
including (in 2023) the Belgrade Art Studio, Arteles Creative
Centre, BRAZZA Artist Residency, Casa Na Ilha Residency,
and Kaaysá Art Residency.
Film, Two Books
Meditation was and is always central in my practice. But after
attending diligently to that, while at Arteles I completed three
projects, one film and two books: mo(u)vements. (available
now at AstoriaPictures.ca); the rules of grammar will not save
you at the hour of your death (co-written with poet Roxanna
Bennett and available from Baseline Press Spring 2024); and
Unspeakable (available from Gordon Hill Press Spring 2025).
