About
My studies began at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in
Amsterdam, where I began to research the space between
myself and others. One of the most important questions I
am concerned with in my work is: ‘How do I bring the space
between myself and others – the interspace – into motion?’
I use the body with its physical presence as a tool to examine
the interspace, the social space, which is teeming with
meanings, feelings and habits. My work can be subtle as
well as big, both profound in their consequences. I have
won several art prizes for my work including the GRA Award
for Applied Arts with my graduation work at the Jewellery
department in 2015.
Shall we, Shall I?
Doing only things I want to be doing, reconnecting with
my creativity. — Leafing through a big pile of magazines,
composing appealing images into a new world of collages.
Recording my voice with her improvised songs, creating an
album unknowingly. Enjoying nature’s elements, capturing a
photography series of my body in moments of ecstasy and
surrender. Painting my left hand ultramarine blue, exploring a
relationship with a Finnish teapot I encountered. Finding the
perfect raspberry coloured thread, for my two blue vagina
jackets. Breaking the phoenix’s eye, by a soft calligraphy
brush and three bent spoons. — Nourished by the heat of the
sauna, and the company of fellow artists.
Through my company Ritual Design, I create unique gifts
and tailor-made art. I believe the act of giving and receiving
can reinforce and deepen our relationships. Gifts by Ritual
Design are tactile and meaningful, providing connection and
joy.
Through my work and creations, I intend to encourage people
to slow down, become more aware, and truly experience.
