About
I am a Brighton based graphic artist and designer producing
artwork and surface designs across a range of materials and
mediums, through my studio Orakel Workshop.
My practice has a number of different focusses, one of which
is public art, in which I create large-scale, site-specific
artwork. The work takes inspiration and details from the
site’s history and the present-day locality. This is further
enriched through dialogue with the local community and
the themes and stories created and identified through these
conversations inform the designs further.
My artwork can be both two dimensional or sculptural,
produced in any material and incorporate bespoke pattern,
imagery, typography and illustration.
Alongside my large-scale works, I am also a surface designer
creating bespoke patterns for products and a graphic
designer, working with organisations to deliver creative
content.
Finland: Work in progress
Having grown up in a secluded rural environment in Southern
England, followed by living in a small city for over a decade; I
had missed the solace that being in nature provides.
After the protracted challenges presented by the pandemic,
spending time in the Finnish countryside offered a much
needed and welcome return to nature and an opportunity for
respite and a space to create.
As the season turned from Winter to Spring, watching and
spending time in the landscape as it changed, alongside
a fantastic group of like-minded people, provided an
opportunity for growth and connection and helped to inspire
and nurture my creative practice.
During my stay at Arteles, I started a body of work in the form
of illustrations using colour, texture and imagery taken from
the forest and local landscape. They incorporate collage,
printed and painted elements produced during the residency
and I will continue to evolve the series in the form of further
illustrations and a surface pattern design.
