N° 3 - Salute per tutti

Nel 2009 l’ISPLAD compie 10 anni di vita. Sono stati dieci anni di grandi successi, di traguardi raggiunti, di pro g e t t i
importanti, di crescita per la dermatologia. Da otto Soci fondatori siamo arrivati ad oggi a circa 2000 iscritti.
Nessun’altra Associazione dermatologica è riuscita in questa impresa. L’età media dei soci è di circa 40 anni e per questo
vuol dire che si tratta di una Società che raccoglie soprattutto i giovani, la forza del futuro. È una Associazione trasversale,
infatti è composta da dermatologi libero - p rofessionisti, ambulatoriali, ospedalieri, universitari, questo è stato un
a l t ro elemento di successo. È stata la prima Associazione a valorizzare la figura del dermatologo come regista e portavoce
di tutte le problematiche legate all’aging cutaneo. In questi dieci anni è stata svolta una intensa attività didattica-formativa
con oltre 200 corsi di aggiornamento e due Congressi Internazionali. Molti giovani dermatologi hanno appre s o
i primi insegnamenti sull’uso dei laser, dei peeling, dei filler, ecc…; hanno compreso l’importanza della cosmetologia e
degli integratori. Ma il merito più grande che sarà riconosciuto all’ISPLAD sarà quello di aver dato la possibilità ad un
medico di non farsi
e t i c h e t t a re come “estetista laure a t o”, di aver
fatto di tutto per sostituire il brutto e
declassante termine di “D e rm a t o l o g i a
E s t e t i c a” con “D e rmatologia Plastica” .
L’ISPLAD avrà sempre il merito di aver
fatto capire che il medico non deve “r i e mp
i re” la ruga ma la deve “c u r a re”; mai parl
a re di una terapia antiaging ma di una
“s t r a t e g i a” antiaging. L’ISPLAD ha sempre
sostenuto che la prima cosa da considerare
nella scelta di una terapia antiaging sono
gli effetti collaterali e non i risultati che si
possono ottenere, perché non ci si trova a
c o m b a t t e re una malattia ma ad aiutare un
soggetto sano che tale deve re s t a re .
Adesso bisogna pensare ai prossimi dieci
anni dell’ISPLAD e credo che una buona
strada da perc o r re re sia quella che porterà
alla nascita e allo sviluppo della “D e rm a -
tologia Rigenerativa” cioè di tutti quei mezzi
e terapie capaci di stimolare le cellule cutanee
e rigenerarsi a sostituire i tessuti invecchiati.
Per questo da adesso la “D e rm a t o -
logia Rigenerativa” diventerà la nuova missione
della Dermatologia Plastica.
L’ISPLAD sarà la Società Scientifica che si
occuperà a 360° di “D e rmatologia Rigenerat
i v a ” e di tutti quei mezzi che potranno re alizzarla:
dall’alta tecnologia strumentale alla
cosmetologia, alla dermonutrologia, ai fill
e r, all’uso delle cellule staminali, ecc..
Sono sicuro che ancora una volta l’ISPLAD
indicherà una strada che molti seguiranno
e altri imiteranno.
In 2009, ISPLAD will celebrate its 10th birthday. It has been 10 years of great success, of
achieved goals, of important projects, and of immense progress in the field of dermatology.
Starting with only 8 founding members, today, we have evolved into an ever-growing association
of approximately 2,000 registered members. No other dermatological association has ever
been so successful in such a huge undertaking.
The average age of our members is estimated to be about 40. This clearly shows that ISPLAD
attracts and appeals to young professionals, the true driving force of our future. We are a
dynamic association comprised of dermatologists who work as liberal professionals, in outpatient
clinics, in hospitals, and at universities. And we are extremely proud of this diversity.
We were the first association to emphasize the role of the dermatologist as a director of and
spokesperson for issues related to cutaneous aging. In these 10 years, an intensive educational
program with over 200 refresher courses and 2 international congresses has been developed.
Many young dermatologists have mastered the use of lasers, peeling, fillers, e.t.c; they have
understood the importance of cosmetology and supplements. But perhaps ISPLAD’s biggest
achievement is to have given doctors a way to avoid the label “graduated aesthesists”, and to
have done everything possible to replace the degrading term “Aesthetic Dermatology” with the
term “Plastic Dermatology”.
ISPLAD will always be known for having clearly demonstrated that a doctor’s main job is not
to fill the wrinkles, but to cure; that it is better to concentrate on an anti-aging strategy than
an anti-aging therapy. ISPLAD’s has always maintained that the very first things to consider
when choosing an anti-aging therapy are the possible side-effects and not the results that can
be achieved. We are not fighting a disease, but rather, helping healthy subjects that must
remain so.
It is now time to plan the next 10 years of ISPLAD and I think that a good path to explore
would be the one leading to the birth and development of “Regenerative Dermatology”. That
is, all the methods and therapies that are capable of stimulating cutaneous cells to regenerate
themselves to substitute old tissues. Therefore, “Regenerative Dermatology” shall become the
new mission of Plastic Derm a t o l o g y. ISPLAD will dedicate itself to “Regenerative
Dermatology” and pursue all of the measures necessary to perfect our understanding of it.
These measures include instrumental technology, cosmetology, dermonutrology, fillers, and the
use of stem cells e.t.c.
I am convinced that ISPLAD will once again pave an innovate path that many will follow and
others will adopt as a benchmark of standard.
