COMPANY PROFILE (on page 50)
GARDA
THE QUALITY YARN
The time-honored craft-based skills of yesteryear and
constant innovation are woven into the history of a company
focused on the quality and sustainability of its products
There’s a common thread of tradition and innovation
connecting the past and the future of the Garda Company.
It all began in 1960, when Giovanni and Margherita Garda
created their very first intimate apparel items in cotton and
lisle cotton. Back then the entire manufacturing process was
carried our in the family home: design, production and sales.
Obviously, a great deal has changed over the course of the
ensuing years, but this initial experience has bequeathed the
firm an enduring allegiance to the craftsmanship involved
and the artisanal quality of the products. To this day, the passion
and enthusiasm, the scrupulous commitment to quality
and respect for the customers constitute integral components
of the Garda identity.
This commitment to its original, founding values, however,
has not kept this dynamic firm from reguarly taking onboard
the latest technological breakthroughs and the most innovative
processes in order to be able to offer products and services
constantly on the cutting edge.
Beginning back in 1995 all the garments produced by Garda
have proudly flourished the coveted Oeko-Tex certification,
guaranteeing their eco-sustainability throughout the manufacturing
process, not to mention the absence of substances
that could be harmful to human health. Garda is also able to
certify its products as Children work Free, undertaking to
make absolutely sure that every phase of the manufacturing
chain is carried out without the involvement of child labor.
This commitment and this concern with environmental sustainability
and social values were honored when the company
was granted the CentroCot Award in 2015.
Another characteristic that has always distinguished Garda
is the way it relentlessly pursues research into the materials,
a concern that translates into the use of traditional
luxury yarns, such as fine cotton and lisle cotton, combined
with more modern, innovative materials, such as micromodal.
Currently, the company is engaged in a number of highly
interesting projects, having to do with both men’s and
women’s underwear.
In the first category special mention should be made of
Ginni, a line of underwear with a sporty - but not high-tech
- flair, perfect for a dynamic sort of man who is always in motion.
The garments feature practical styling and elasticized
cotton, with soft, comfortable elastic elements in order to
provide perfect fit and complete freedom of movement.
A wide range of colors are available in order to make it possible
to wear the items in this outstanding line under any
type of outerwear clothing: from the most classic white, to a
wonderfully casual, sporty gray tone, by way of the elegance
of black and blue. Recently, some exciting new models have
been added to this line, including the rower’s tank model and
the new sleeveless t-shirts, very smart as outerwear, as well,
and the same can be said of the V-neck t-shirt, sporting flat,
invisible seams. But the real news is the Ginni Up line: briefs
and boxers featuring the latest in terms of pioneering new
technical breakthroughs in order to guarantee comfort and
elasticity, without compression or constriction.
The styling, seam treatments, featured materials and presence
of protective, supportive cups make these garments
perfect for athletic training.
Garda is also keenly alert to the demands and needs of women
shoppers, who tend to want products that are practical and
comfortable, while, at the same time, help them to feel beautiful
and confident. Garda’s women’s intimate apparel boasts
simple styling, creating items that are easy to wear with a
natural nonchalance any day of the week. The Garda woman
isvery concerned with detailing and always on the lookout for
superior quality when it comes to the materials and finishing.
The most classic, elegant line features lisle cotton with lace
or macramé, while the garments made from a cotton-modal
blend, including the daintier version with lace, or from diaphanous
micromodal with lace are perfect for younger, more
dynamic women.
The selection is completed with the line in Makò cotton -
plain or with lace - and a line of winter knits entirely made
in Italy, this is the line of seamless briefs, made with a very
high percentage of cotton in the fabric. The collection boasts
a color palette composed of black, white, blue and a silken
tone. In order to facilitate displaying the products in a retail
setting, Garda offers its new customers provides its new customers
with free-standing display units for the briefs and t-
shirts. In the new future the firm is planning to expand the
