ENGLISHassure that the maximum recommended speed(rpm) on the saw blade meets or exceeds thespeed (rpm) of the saw.5. Follow steps 1 through 5 under To Install theBlade, making sure that the blade will rotate inthe proper direction.LOWER BLADE GUARDWARNING: The lower blade guardis a safety feature which reduces therisk of serious personal injury. Neveruse the saw if the lower guard ismissing, damaged, misassembled ornot working properly. Do not rely onthe lower blade guard to protect youunder all circumstances. Your safetydepends on following all warnings andprecautions as well as proper operationof the saw. Check lower guard forproper closing before each use. If thelower blade guard is missing or notworking properly, have the saw servicedbefore using. To assure product safetyand reliability, repair, maintenance andadjustment should be performed byan authorized service center or otherqualified service organization, alwaysusing identical replacement parts.CHECKING THE LOWER GUARD (FIG. 1)1. Turn tool off and disconnect from power supply.2. Rotate the lower guard lever (fig. 1, k) from thefully closed position to the fully open position.3. Release the lever (k) and observe the guard (i)return to the fully closed position. The tool should be serviced by a qualified servicecenter if it:• fails to return to the fully closed position,• moves intermittently or slowly, or• contacts the blade or any part of the tool in allangles and depth of cut.Depth of Cut Adjustment (fig. 5–7)1. Raise the depth adjustment lever (p) to loosen.2. To obtain the correct depth of cut, align thenotch (q) on the depth adjustment strap withthe appropriate mark on the upper bladeguard (l).3. Tighten the depth adjustment lever4. For the most efficient cutting action usinga carbide tipped saw blade, set the depthadjustment so that about one half of a toothprojects below the surface of the wood to becut.5. A method of checking for the correct cuttingdepth is shown in Figure 7. Lay a piece of thematerial you plan to cut along the side of theblade, as shown in the figure, and observe howmuch tooth projects beyond the material.Bevel Angle Adjustment (fig. 8)The bevel angle adjustment mechanism (g) can beadjusted between 0° and 48°.1. Turn the bevel adjustment knob (f) to loosen.2. Tilt the foot plate to the desired angle mark onthe pivot bracket (u).3. Turn the bevel adjustment knob to retighten.Kerf Indicator (fig. 9)The front of the saw shoe has a kerf indicator (t) forvertical and bevel cutting. This indicator enables youto guide the saw along cutting lines penciled on thematerial being cut. The indicator lines up with the left(inner) side of the saw blade, which makes the slotor "kerf" cut by the moving blade fall to the right ofthe indicator. The notches on the base plate indicate0˚ and 45˚.Adjustable Cord Protector(fig. 10)The adjustable cord protector (v) allows the cord tobe positioned vertical or parallel to the blade. It isshipped in the vertical position.TO OBTAIN THE PARALLEL POSITION (FIG. 10A)1. Press the cord protector (v) in as indicated bythe arrow.2. Rotate the cord protector clockwise to theparallel position.TO OBTAIN THE VERICAL POSITION (FIG. 10B)1. Press the cord protector (v) in as indicated bythe arrow.2. Rotate the cord protector counterclockwise tothe vertical position.Mounting and Adjusting the ParallelFence (fig. 11)The parallel fence (w) is used for cutting parallel tothe edge of the workpiece.MOUNTING1. Insert parallel fence adjustment knob (x) into thehole (aa) as shown in Figure 11, keeping theknob loose to allow the parallel fence to pass.2. Insert the parallel fence (w) into the base plate(h) as shown in Figure 11.3. Tighten the parallel fence adjustment knob (x).38
