RESUMO
Nesta dissertação, que se apresenta sob a forma de uma tradução e de um comentário da obra
Apologia de Sócrates de Platão, analisamos a percepção platônica do conflito ético instaurado
pela figura de Sócrates, por sua vida, condenação e morte, tomando como fio condutor o
problema que identificamos como sendo o núcleo desta obra: a distinção entre ser e parecer.
Neste horizonte hermenêutico investigamos as razões subjacentes a este conflito, seus
principais focos e suas consequências na Atenas do século V a.C. A análise deste conflito ético
fundamental na história do Ocidente trouxe à tona novas luzes para o estudo não somente do
Sócrates de Platão, mas, também, da filosofia da Academia. Nesta perspectiva, evidenciamos e
analisamos o que consideramos ser a gênese de alguns dos principais aspectos fundadores da
filosofia platônica, demostrando a importância desta obra no corpus platonicum e na história
da filosofia antiga.

ABSTRACT
In this dissertation, presented as the translation and the commentary of Plato's Apology of
Socrates, we analyze the platonic perception of the ethical conflict instigated by the character
of Socrates, his life, condemnation and death, taking as the guiding line the problem we
identified as the nucleus of this piece: the distinction between being and appearing. In this
hermeneutic horizon we investigate the underlying reasons for this conflict, its main focuses
and its consequences to the Athens of the fifth century B.C. The analysis of this ethical
conflict, that is fundamental for Western history, brought about new light to the study not only
of Plato’s Socrates, but also of Academy's philosophy. In this perspective, we bring to light
and analyze what we consider to be the origins of some of the main foundational aspects of
platonic philosophy, and demonstrate the importance of this work for the corpus platonicum
and the history of ancient philosophy.
