The low thyroid uptake of [ 99m Tc]SP confirmed itsgood quality.The distribution, metabolism and excretion (DME) of an exogenouscompound in a living organism depends on physicals, chemicals and physiologicalfactors. These factors remove and dilute the compound from its place of entrance in thebiological system, carry it to different tissues, allow its diffusion or promote itspermeation through cell membrane and finally determine its accumulation, dispositionand excretion.Kinetic profile of [ 99m Tc]SP in each organ is depicted in fig. 1 and allows theidentification of the organs that accumulate [ 99m Tc]SP (Fig. 1). Figure 2 summarize thekinetics for [ 99m Tc]SP in different organs. This kind of analysis facilitates thevisualization of the [ 99m Tc]SP biodistribution profile during the DME process.Our results showed that [ 99m Tc]SP is excreted slowly and preferentially by the kidneys(the calculated clearance was 0,07mL/minute), but after 24 hours of injection it wasalmost completely eliminated (6.32%ID/g). The enzymatic activities present in thisvenom and the slow renal clearance also make us to think in a possible nephrotoxiceffect of this venom.
