Farol, velocímetro e as rodas raiadas
The bike received an improvement with Dot 5 hydraulic
brake fluid to improve the braking capacity, and Harley-Davidson
suspension which provides a safer ride for the biker.
The electrical system was below the seat and as it heated
up too much, gained special hand molded refrigeration. In
the details, leather was used on the seat and handle grips.
The mirrors were replaced by English pieces, one of the
tanks by one from a Suzuki 270, and the tail lights belonged
to a Ford 36. Headlight, speedometer and spoked wheels
were kept from the original vehicle. The color chosen was
the British Racing Green.
With all the changes made, the Virago was completely
different and the riding position gave a much faster response.
“A custom bike usually has a slow response, but not this
one. With a slight inclination in the body, it is already takes
the trajectory that the pilot is asking for,” approves Gringo.
The bike is almost ready – as there’s still the need for the
seal for its ‘cafe license’, as it is called, to be able to be ridden
around the city – Gringo guarantees: “it wasn’t sold and nor
will it be.” The result was so good that he invited a friend to
set up a fixed space for customizing bikes in a custom house
called Grilo Gringo, of which is co-owner. From this project
and the partnership, the Cafe Racer Studio was born, whose
specialty is just as the name reveals.
