MERCADO BRASILEIRO E MUNDIAL
Abeleza única da madeira de teca, as caraterísticas
de densidade e resistência mecânica comparável
com as principais madeiras nativas, a excelente
trabalhabilidade e de fácil manuseio, uma estabilidade
dimensional muito acima da média e uma
durabilidade mundialmente famosa diante das ações climáticas
e agentes biológicos, faz da teca uma excelente escolha para o
desenho e fabricação de móveis e artefatos de madeira em geral.
Todos esses atributos fizeram a fama da madeira teca (Tectona
grandis) desde o século 18, quando os barcos das grandes
navegações europeias optavam por essa espécie para garantir
mais segurança e longevidade às viagens. No século atual, a
indústria internacional passou a investir mais intensamente, na
década de 50, em plantações ao redor do mundo, na Ásia, África
e América Central. E, foi nos anos 70, que o Brasil abriu os olhos
para a espécie. Agora, o novo impulso nacional vem do cerrado,
no município de Água Boa, a 730 km de Cuiabá (MT).

1950s, industry world-wide, mainly in Asia, Africa and Central America,
began to invest more intensely in the species for use in furniture.
And it was in the 1970s that Brazil opened its eyes to the species.
Now, a new national impulse is destined for the city of Água
Boa, 730 km from Cuiabá (MT).
The Companhia do Vale do Araguaia is a forestry and industrial
company, founded in 2005 and consolidated in the region that develops
sustainable teak plantations in the Brazilian Midwest.
