C1. A TEN YEARS RETROSPECTIVE CT STUDY IN THE
POSITIVE DIAGNOSIS OF THE ISCHEMIC STROKE

Background: The cardiovascular disease represents the entire affections
which are based on ischemic lesions, bleeding or mixed, belonging to the
cerebral parenchyma. Objective: The acute stroke is one of the main causes
of mortality and morbidity, being widespread all over the world. Our aim
was to conduct a retrospective study on the incidence of acute stroke.
Material and method: Our survey includes cases obtained through the
usage and exploitation of the Computer Tomography during the period of
2000-2009, form the Radiology and Imagistic Clinic of the Mureş County
Hospital. The study is pointing out the incidence of acute stroke on age,
gender, topography and on the vascularized area. Results: The incidence of
acute stroke based on diagnostic tips reveals that from the total of 7690
patients, a number of 4270 have been diagnosed with ischemic stroke,
meaning 58% of the total number of cases. Also a number of 2420 were
diagnosed with hemorrhagic stroke representing 28% from the total number
of cases. The incidence by gender related to acute stroke was almost equal,
for example 3828 of cases meaning 52% belonged to the male gender and a
number of 3517 cases meaning 47% belonged to the female gender. The
most affected age group has been between 40-70 years with a total of 4178
cases of acute stroke, representing 56% from total of cases. The incidence of
acute stroke based on vascular tips is as follows: for the ACM had been
studied a number of 5705 cases (83%) , for ACP with a survey on 559 cases
(8%), for the ACA 379 cases (5%) and for ACM + ACP with 171 cases
(2%) and ACM + ACA with 136 cases (2%).
