Piesele paleontologice din expoziţia permanentă contribuie la reconstituirea paleogeografică.In the entire permanent exhibition is there are the tri-dimensional displaying through the means ofdioramas and the sounding and illumination systems suggesting a night and day cycle in eachdescribed environment. In the first part of the exhibition is presented the evolution of the live world, fromthe simplest organisms to the birds. The middle sector of the exhibition shows aspects in the life of thebirds, especially the ones living in trees, from the small species to the large, diurnal or nocturnal birds ofprey. The temperate zone is illustrated through all landforms (from the plane to the alpine heights), eachof them populated by their specific fauna and flora.The artic zone presents a seal, an animal which is representative for this particular area; it is an item ofa historical importance as well, being one of the oldest pieces in the Museum’s collections.The last diorama of this sector illustrates the diversity of the Australian continent.The palaeontological items in the permanent exhibition are a good opportunity for a reconstitutionattempt. Colecția deartă decorativă cuprinde piese de mobilier, cositoare și argintărie medievală, veșminte de cult, lucrate înItalia în sec. XIV - XV, artă decorativă extrem orientală, covoare orientale medievale. Biblioteca dețineun bogat fond de cărți, în parte colecționat de baronul Brukenthal.The decorative art collection comprises over 600 items: furniture (about 200 pieces), mowers andmediaeval silverware (61 artefacts), religious garbs made in Italy in the 14th - 15th centuries (20 items),Far East decorative art (120 items), mediaeval Oriental carpets (61 items). The library, available toresearchers and students, preserves a rich book collection (Toma de Aquino, Opus praeclarum quartiscripti, Mainz, 1469; Breviarum croaticum, 1493; Petrarca, Triomphi, 1488; Schedel's Chronicles - 2,000wooden illustrations, Nürnberg, 1493; De mirabilibus mundi by Solinus C. Iulius, printed in Venice in1488; Strabo's Geography, Rome, 1473; the Natural History of Pliny the Elder, Venice, 1498; the worksof Boccacio and Petrarch etc).
