Sunt binereprezentate monedele antice grecești,geto-dacice, romane republicane <strong>și</strong> imperiale, bizantine, otomane <strong>și</strong> medievale central-europene. Există<strong>și</strong> o colecție semnificativă de medalii europene <strong>și</strong> nord-americane, ponduri <strong>și</strong> piese asociate monedelor<strong>din</strong> tezaure (recipiente <strong>și</strong> podoabe).The core of the collection is represented by the stock inherited from the National Antiquities Museum,built during the 19th century <strong>and</strong> the first half of the 20th century. It has been completed by acquisitions<strong>and</strong> donations, <strong>and</strong> especially pieces picked up during archaeological excavations. The most importantsamples include those from Histria, Dinogetia, Noviodunum, Tropaeum Trajani, Sucidava <strong>and</strong> Suceava.One can remark the ancient Greek, Geto-Dacian, Republican <strong>and</strong> imperial Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman<strong>and</strong> Central European Mediaeval coins. There is also a considerable collection of European <strong>and</strong> North-American medals, ponds <strong>and</strong> pieces associated to the hoard coins (recipients <strong>and</strong> ornaments).78
