Stuart Allan is professor of Journalism at the Media School, Bournemouth University,<br />

United Kingdom. Prior to this appointment, he was Professor of Media and Journalism<br />

Studies at the University of the West of England, Bristol. His research includes a study<br />

of young people’s use of digital media, funding for which has been provided by the<br />

AHRC/BBC Knowledge Exchange Programme. He worked with Cardiff University, the<br />

University of Ulster and the BBC. His research expertise includes online news, with<br />

special interests in crisis, conflict and war reporting<br />

(especially the role of citizen journalism).<br />
