It’s ´ better to be poor
and to get used to it
than to be rich and always
worry about losing your
money
Most of us struggle daily to
get more bread on the table and
to secure ourselves financiallythinking
we will thus be safe
from external forces. We are
inclined to crave for a better
financial state - such is our
nature. Our mind is in a way
enfused with the illusion that
money will provide safety and
happiness.
We believe that having more
money will make us happier,
more carefree, more secure.
That is true to some extent, but
it's a short-term feeling, one
that fades with time. When
that feeling fades or when we
lose the money we grow bitter.
There is a saying that goes:
„Money isn't everything“. I
agree with it, because there are
many things money cannot buy,
for example health, happiness
and love (though it helps with
most of these things if you
have money). We must train
ourselves to grow above our cravings, anger
and ill feelings and try to better ourselves daily
without the use of money. After all, money's
just a piece of paper, a nugget of gold. It's true
that it's almost impossible to live without it, but
you can try and maintain such a mindset that
you won't spend it carelessly and on things of
momentary happiness.
In conclusion I'd like you to think about the
old proverb: „Pain is inevitable, suffering is
optional“, and to try to realize it's true meaning
within yourself. One can suffer even with the
possession of all worldly items and another
can be happy without any. We should all seek
something greater, a true freedom from external
forces. Just try and see.
