We are going to guide You through the town we come from Herceg Novi. At the entrance of<br />
the Boka Bay, hides our fascinating town Herceg Novi. It was founded as a fortress in 1382<br />
by first Bosnian king Stjepan Tvrtko I, and was called Sveti Stefan or Castelnuovo. It carries<br />
many titles, such as City of the Sun, City of Flora, City of Artistsand and the City of Stairs.<br />
Herceg Novi has many good hotels to stay at, but the best one is Palmon Bay. And for the<br />
history and culture part, You have to see Old Town along with fortresses like Citadela, Forte<br />
Mare, Mamula, Clock Tower …, and many beautiful squares like square of Nikola Đurković,<br />
Belavista square … And You have to walk along the promenade named Šetalište Pet Danica.<br />
Herceg Novi is also full of different religious monuments such as Monastery Savina that is<br />
known all around the world,and also St. Leopold Mandić was born here.<br />
Something that makes Herceg Novi unique is the accesability of the mouintain and the sea.In<br />
the same day You can enjoy at the beach and later breathe the fresh air of the mountain Orjen<br />
on 1000 metres above the sea level. But if heights aren’t Your cup of tea, walking through the beautiful<br />
forest of Savinska Dubrava might be. While You are there You can visit Monastery Savina,<br />
which is builtin 17th century, and people all around the world come to see it.<br />
Also something that is interesting to mention is that in our town was born and lived St. Leopold<br />
Mandić, and next to Monastery Savina Herceg Novi has 89 churches, 79 Ortodox and 14 Catholic.<br />
You would assume that town of this kind wouldn't be touristically appealing during the winter season.<br />
But that is not the case with Herceg Novi. During the winter period there are a lot of manifestations<br />
that are making the town alive. One of the most famous one is Mimosa festival, which is starting<br />
in the first week of February and is full of concerts and other activities. Also popular is the HAPS<br />
(Hercegnovsko Aprilsko Pozorište Svečanosti), filmski fest, HSF (Hercegnovski Strip Fest) …<br />
