Colleges constitute an academic community of
approximately 9,000 students. As a result, Pomona
students enjoy both the personalized instruction and
close faculty-student interactions afforded by a
small liberal arts college as well as the intellectual
and extracurricular resources typically found at
much larger universities. In collaboration with the
Claremont Colleges Consortium, Pomona College
offers a variety of professional development,
mentorship, and networking opportunities for
faculty including the opportunity for entering
assistant professors to apply for a fully funded leave
in their fourth year at the College.
Assistant Professor in Chinese (Carlisle, PA)
The Department of East Asian Studies at Dickinson
College invites applications for a tenure-track
position at the rank of assistant professor in Chinese
media, film, or literature studies. The teaching load
is five courses a year. Applicants should be prepared
to teach Chinese at all levels and topical courses in
their discipline, and first-year seminars. We are
particularly interested in candidates who apply a
transnational perspective in their research and
teaching, and who will demonstrate leadership and
initiative working both within the department
(including extra-curricular activities) and with our
partner programs in Beijing and Taipei. The ability
to create inclusive learning environments for an
increasingly diverse student body will be an
important characteristic of the successful candidate.
Native or near-native fluency in Chinese and
English is required. A Ph.D. must be in hand by
August 2023.

Teaching Fellow for Chinese Studies
(Clinton, NY)
The East Asian Languages and Literatures
Department at Hamilton College invites
applications for one year Teaching Fellow position
in Chinese, beginning on August 15, 2022. The
positioncan be renewed for one additional year,
contingent on funding renewal and performance
review. A B.A. or M.A. in Chinese language
pedagogy or related areas and experience teaching
Chinese as a second language are required. The
Teaching Fellow will assist full-time faculty
members in teaching two Chinese language courses
while enrolled in classes at Hamilton. We are
seeking candidates who can demonstrate their
experience in teaching or working with diverse
populations. The cover letter should address ways in
which you incorporate diversity and inclusion in
your teaching. Primary work responsibilities will
include individual sessions and grading. The
teaching fellow will receive a monthly stipend,
room, board, health insurance, round-trip
transportation to and from Hamilton College, and
tuition benefits.
