Das Zukunskonzept der HU beinhaltet<br />
ein umfassendes Programm <strong>zu</strong>r Entwicklung<br />
von drei Integrativen Forsc<strong>hu</strong>ngsinstituten (Integrative<br />
Research Institutes, IRI): das 2009<br />
gegründete IRIS Adlershof, das neue IRI für Lebens<strong>wissen</strong>schaen<br />
– eine Kooperation zwischen<br />
HU, Max-Delbrück-Centrum und Charité<br />
auf dem Campus Nord – und künig das IRI<br />
THESys (Die großen Transformationen von<br />
Mensch-Umwelt-Systemen) <strong>zu</strong>m Themenkomplex<br />
Nachhaltigkeit, Landnut<strong>zu</strong>ng und Globalisierung.<br />
Diese neuen Formate der <strong>Humboldt</strong>-<br />
Universität sollen Wissenschalern, die ein<br />
Forsc<strong>hu</strong>ngsfeld, in dem die HU eine internationale<br />
Führungsposition anstrebt, ermöglichen,<br />
gemeinsam interdisziplinär und im Verbund<br />
mit außeruniversitären Forsc<strong>hu</strong>ngsinstituten<br />
<strong>zu</strong> arbeiten. Die IRI werden zeitlich befristet<br />
eingerichtet.<br />
Top research requires freedom and flexibility,<br />
and ground-breaking questions are oen best<br />
answered in an interdisciplinary team of international<br />
colleagues and partners. The HU Institutional<br />
Strategy features a comprehensive<br />
programme for developing three Integrative<br />
Research Institutes (IRIs). This includes further<br />
development of IRIS Adlershof, founded in<br />
2009; establishment of the new IRI for the Life<br />
Sciences –a collaboration between HU, the Max<br />
Delbrück Center and the Charité – to be based<br />
at HU’s Campus Nord; and preparation of IRI<br />
THESys (The Great Transformations of Human-<br />
Environmental Systems), which will investigate<br />
complex topics relating to sustainability, land<br />
use and globalisation. This new format at<br />
<strong>Humboldt</strong>-Universität will benefit researchers<br />
working in fields where HU is looking to take a<br />
leading international role by giving them the<br />
chance, within a limited time frame, to carry<br />
out interdisciplinary research work in collaboration<br />
with non-university research institutes.<br />
