7. Braking<br />
On bicycles with coaster brakes, braking occurs by pedaling backwards. On bicycles<br />
with rim and drum brakes, you brake with the brake levers on the handlebars. The<br />
right brake lever engages the back-wheel brake and the left brake lever engages the<br />
front-wheel brake. It is good to engage both brakes at once. Never use the front brake<br />
alone!<br />
GENERAL<br />
Do not hang bags on the handlebar. Get a basket which can be attached to the<br />
package rack to carry bags in. The heaviest load allowable for the package rack is 25<br />
kg, and the frame of the package rack may have an even more restrictive weight<br />
allowance.<br />
Wear a bicycle helmet!<br />
BEFORE YOU RIDE YOUR BIKE, ALWAYS MAKE SURE THAT<br />
IT IS IN GOOD OPERATING CONDITION!<br />
- Brakes and gears are working and are correctly adjusted<br />
- Handlebars, handlebar shaft and seat are well-tightened<br />
- Tires have enough air in them<br />
- Hubs equipped with quick-release lock axles are well-tightened<br />
- Pedals are well-tightened<br />
