The aed is now in its fifth year. You have supported the aed’s
work from the beginning. What do you wish us for the next
five years?
To be at least as successful as it is now, at least.
You have brought in attitude and form during your 12-year
presidency of the German Design Council. These two terms
cannot be separated in your holistic view of design. What
does this mean for you practically?
Things that are repeated every day, especially interpersonal
relations, looking at things carefully and being able to react.
Out of this, hopefully, the better product will be created in
the field of design.
You have been supporting design and art for many years. The
support for design is understandable against the background
of the field you work in. But why art?
Because art is the highest level of design.
The traditions of Bauhaus and Ulmer Schule have greatly
influenced your work. Can these ideals be transported to
the future?
Absolutely.
You distribute your trade fair and architectural systems all
over the world. How do you manage cultural differences?
Very well. International business works well if respect and
mutual trust are the basis.
