Following the Reformation, the counts of Waldeck had the
former abbey in Arolsen converted into a palace. Today visitors
can admire outstanding stuccowork and ceiling frescos in
the magnificent building. Several of the historically furnished
rooms feature valuable tapestries, paintings and furniture.
The Kronprinzenzimmer (Crown Prince Room) impresses the
visitor with a large, imposingly laid table. In the three Pfälzer
Zimmer (Palatinate Rooms) the military history of Waldeck
is documented with weapons collection, Turkish booty and
medals.
Opening hours: 1.5.–30.9. daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
in April and Oct. daily (not Mondays) from 10 a.m. to
3 p.m., Nov. to March Sat, Wed 3 p.m., Sun 11 a.m.,
guided tours to be booked in advance in winter months

Getting there: You reach Bad Arolsen by regional express
(Regional-Express) from the direction of Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe
and Korbach every hour (some parts of Sunday every
two hours). From Bad Arolsen train station take bus line
505 towards Volkmarsen and get off at “Rathausstraße”.
From here walk along Rathausstraße and turn right into
Schlossstraße. The walk takes about 5 minutes.
