Schloss Biedenkopf (Biedenkopf Palace)
Schloss Biedenkopf, now the museum of the Hinterland
region, lies on an approximately 200 metre-long ridge above
the town of Biedenkopf. Following renovation and complete
refurbishment, the palace received the Historic Preservation
Award of Hessen. The fully preserved tower keep of this
palace has supraregional significance as a fine 12th-century
example of this type of structure. The Hinterland Museum is
accommodated in the great hall and records the history and
culture of the former district of Biedenkopf.

Getting there: You reach Biedenkopf by regional train
(Regionalbahn) from the direction of Marburg and
Erndte brück every two hours, and from the direction of
Gießen and Kassel by changing in Marburg (Lahn) and
from the direction of Siegen by changing in Erndtebrück,
in each case every two hours. From Biedenkopf train station
turn left, then turn right into Bachgrundstraße and
follow this street until you get to Marktplatz (the market
square). Cross this, walk uphill on Kottenbachstraße
and follow the signs to “Schloss”. The walk takes about
20 minutes.
