Landgrafenschloss Marburg (Landgrave’s Palace)<br />
The Landgrafenschloss of Marburg is situated prom<strong>in</strong>ently on<br />
a plateau above the university town. At the end of the 13th<br />
century, Landgrave Henry I. converted the former Thur<strong>in</strong>gian<br />
castle <strong>in</strong>to the magnificent ma<strong>in</strong> residence of the landgraves<br />
of <strong>Hessen</strong>. One particularly <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g element is the superb<br />
roofed hall with, on the upper floor, its Fürstensaal (Pr<strong>in</strong>ces’<br />
Hall) <strong>in</strong>tended for receptions and festivities.<br />

Gett<strong>in</strong>g there: Your reach Marburg (Lahn) by regional<br />
express (Regional-Express) from the direction of Frankfurt<br />
(Ma<strong>in</strong>) and Gießen every hour and from the direction<br />
of Kassel every two hours, and by regional tra<strong>in</strong> (Regionalbahn)<br />
from the direction of Erndtebrück every two<br />
hours and from the direction of Frankenberg every hour<br />
(s<strong>und</strong>ays every two hours). From Marburg tra<strong>in</strong> station<br />
walk along <strong>Bahn</strong>hofstraße past the Elisabethkirche church<br />
<strong>in</strong>to the old town centre. From this po<strong>in</strong>t you will already<br />
see the palace. The walk from the old town centre takes<br />
about 18 m<strong>in</strong>utes.
