Stadtschloss Fulda (Fulda Town Palace)
The Stadtschloss was built on the orders of the prince-abbots
of Fulda in the period 1706–1721, extending the earlier
Renaissance palace in a richly magnificent Baroque style.
The Historischen Räume (Historical Rooms) of the former
residence of the prince-abbots give an insight into the lifestyle
of absolutist rulers. In addition to the large ceremonial hall
and its antechambers and a princely living section dating from
the first half of the 18th century, some rooms in the Classical
style of the 19th century can also be viewed. Tip: Explore six

Opening hours: Daily (except Fri) 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Fri 2
p.m.–5 p.m. (The ,Historischen Räume’ of the Stadtschloss
remain closed on 24.12. and are open on 31.12. from 10
a.m.–2 p.m., if this day does not fall on a Fri)

Getting there: You reach Fulda by regional express
(Regional-Express) from the direction of Frankfurt (Main)
every hour, by regional train (Regionalbahn) from the
direction of Gersfeld every hour (at the weekend every
two hours) and by local trains from the direction of Gießen
every two hours. From Fulda train station walk along
Bahnhofstraße, turn right into Lindenstraße and left into
Schlossstraße. The walk takes about 9 minutes.
