Pipe”<br />
The Styrian automation professional and<br />
software service provider HQ 4 productivity<br />
has developed an innovative tool to make<br />
production processes more transparent:<br />
“Data Pipe” reads data from the controls at<br />
the current status and writes them directly<br />
into a data base. The advantage: all parameters,<br />
such as utilization and production status<br />
are retrievable at any time. Changes can<br />
be sent directly from the software to the machine.<br />
“This makes the handling of the production<br />
a lot easier”, says managing director Helmut<br />
Quinz. “The software is designed to be very<br />
lean. It waives unnecessary ballast and focuses<br />
on the essentials.”<br />
A further plus: “Data Pipe” runs on a databank<br />
server and can be applied locally, therefore<br />
it does not have to be in the immediate<br />
vicinity of the machine. After two years<br />
of development, the software was intensively<br />
tested in many pilot projects and this product<br />
should be released in an OpenSource<br />
version by the end of 2009 �<br />

HQ 4 productivity hat ein<br />
innovatives Tool entwickelt, das Produktionsprozesse<br />
transparenter macht: „Data<br />
Pipe“ liest aus der Steuerung Daten zum aktuellen<br />
Status aus <strong>und</strong> schreibt diese direkt<br />
in eine Datenbank. Der Vorteil dabei: Alle<br />
Parameter wie etwa Auslastung oder Produktionsstand<br />
sind zu jeder Zeit abrufbar, Änderungen<br />
können in Echtzeit von der <strong>Software</strong><br />
direkt an die Maschine weitergegeben werden.<br />
„Das macht das Handling der Produktion<br />
um einiges einfacher“, so Geschäftsführer<br />
Helmut Quinz. „Die <strong>Software</strong> ist sehr schlank<br />
konzipiert, verzichtet auf unnötigen Ballast<br />
<strong>und</strong> konzentriert sich auf das Wesentliche.“<br />
Weiteres Plus: „Data Pipe“ läuft auf einem<br />
Datenbankserver <strong>und</strong> kann somit dezentral<br />
eingesetzt werden, ohne dabei in unmittelbarer<br />
Nähe zur Maschine stehen zu müssen.<br />
Nach über 2-jähriger Entwicklungszeit konnte<br />
die <strong>Software</strong> in mehreren Pilotprojekten<br />
intensiv getestet werden. Und noch 2009<br />
soll das Produkt als OpenSource-Version auf<br />
den Markt kommen. �<br />
