Und als wir zu Hause ankamen, wurde alles
hauptsächlich mit automatischen Hausgeräten
geregelt – sowohl als in den Straßen, als auch im
Familienleben. Alle meine sambischen Sitten und
Gebräuche waren praktisch umgekehrt. So würde
eine ältere Person in Sambia sich niemals mit ihrem
Vornamen vorstellen.
Letztendlich muss ich aber diesen Lebensstil und die
Kultur respektieren, da wir im Endeffekt alle von Gott
erschaffen wurden.
Was das Essen angeht: Guter Gott, ich vermisse Nsima
so sehr. Aber ich habe auch sehr viele neue Gerichte
probiert und mag auch die meisten davon.
I arrived in Germany on 31st July 2017 with my fellow
volunteer Chilala Mpile at around 09:45.Already one
thing I proved right was time keeping because it was
exactly as my ticket stated I would arrive.
I received a warm welcome from Irmela and Nina
at the airport. All was different to my eyes, the clean
streets; the cars were left hand side. The black African
faces my eyes were used to for the past 18 years were
now looking at all white people, no English or any
Zambian language my ears were used to, it was all
different.
And when it came to the home and chores mostly
it was machinery use, on the street as well as family
life, all my Zambian morals were
opposite. Such that an elderly person
would introduce himself or herself by
their first name.
But all in all I had to embrace the way
of life and respect the culture after all
we are God ‚s creation.
When it came to the food, oh my
Lord, I missed Nsima a lot. It was
all about tasting different dishes every
day and well, I liked most of them.
Time came to meet the other
volunteers in Aachen and the rest of
the organising board. It was a very
nice experience for me because they
are also new in Germany and so was
I. The language was also a struggle
for them and we were all beginners.
One thing I was impressed about is
that I was able to introduce myself in
Deutsch, thus ‚Ich heiße Mbonyiwe
Banda, ich bin 19 Jahre alt und ich
komme aus Sambia. To mean, My
name is Mbonyiwe Banda, am 18
years old and I come from Zambia.
I am having a good time already, I have
been to Schlosspark, Wickrath castle,
to the Castle Museum Nideggen as
well as to Indemann overview tower,
such lovely places.
