nichts wurde in Fertigbauweise erstellt, wie Geschäftsführer
Novotny betont.
So wurde beispielsweise das Dach begrünt. Die Farbe
der Gärten und der Natur spiegelt sich in der Farbgestaltung
der Räumlichkeiten des Neubaus wider. Verantwortlich
hierfür zeichnet der Architekt Martin Rieger,
Geschäftsführer der sander.hofrichter architekten GmbH in
Ludwigshafen.
Here the Focus is on the Patient
After a construction period of around two and a half years,
the three-storey new Königshof Clinic in Krefeld was opened –
80 rooms at hotel level were built here, 20 of which are private
rooms on the upper floor.
The Königshof Clinic exists since 1891 and is a specialist hospital
for psychiatry, neurology and psychotherapy with 145 treatment
places, which belongs to the St. Augustinus Clinics and is
therefore a denominationally run hospital. Christian charity is
more than just a word in the Königshof Clinic, the patient is
always the centre of attention here. And exactly this motto was also
implemented in the construction of the new building.
»We would like to use the modern, open construction to reduce the
existing inhibitions to go to a psychiatric clinic and keep them as
low as possible,« hospital director Michael Novotny says. In addition,
patients should feel at home in the Königshof Clinic from the
very first moment. »People who suffer from severe mental illnesses
such as depression or anxiety disorders sometimes stay with us for
a longer period of several weeks,« explains Dr. Jan Dreher. According
to the chief physician, it is precisely then that such an atmosphere
in which patients can really recover is especially important.
In addition, the clinic offers its patients individual treatment concepts,
consisting of medication and various psychotherapies, in
which the wishes and needs of each individual are taken into
account as much as possible. Here, too, the open concept of the new
building offers many advantages, for both the patients and the
employees who now have their workstations all in the same ward
and can be approached by patients at any time.
By the way, the buildings were built with a focus on sustainability,
nothing was prefabricated, as managing director Novotny
emphasises. For example, the roof was greened. The colour of
the gardens and nature is reflected in the colour scheme of the
premises of the new building.
