HVAC Competence Center for Meyer yards<br />

Only two years ago, MAC Hamburg was<br />

founded to deliver the HVAC system for<br />

all cruise ships and projects within the<br />

Meyer yards – this includes consultancy,<br />

engineering, procurement and production<br />

until ship delivery. The HVAC<br />

plant is well known to keep the passengers’<br />

comfort constant but it is also a<br />

safety relevant system. By optimizing<br />

the systems and developing innovative<br />

components, the energy consumption<br />

and space requirement will be reduced<br />

in the future, but MAC takes also care<br />

of a maintenance friendly configuration.<br />

In April <strong>2018</strong> MAC Hamburg and Meyer<br />

will hand over their first turnkey system<br />

to the customer of »Norwegian Bliss«,<br />

this is the start for a major ramp up to<br />

deliver HVAC systems for three ships per<br />

year from Meyer Werft and two ships per<br />

year from Meyer Turku.<br />

MAC Hamburg has a team of more<br />

than 140 employees active in various<br />

disciplines and is the HVAC competence<br />

center within Meyer group. The orderbook<br />

is full up to 2<strong>02</strong>4 to built huge and<br />

complex cruise ships.<br />

New US research vessel with HVAC-R technology by Heinen & Hopman<br />

Heinen & Hopman subsidiary LeBlanc &<br />

Associates was awarded the contract to<br />

supply the HVAC-R for an oceanographic<br />

research vessel, to be built by Gulf Island<br />

Shipyards for the Oregon State University.<br />

Oregon State University has just received<br />

a grant of 121.88 mill. $ from the<br />

National Science Foundation to spearhead<br />

the construction of a new class of<br />

research vessels for the United States<br />

Academic Research Fleet. The first vessel<br />

is slated to be operated by OSU for<br />

research missions focusing on the U.S.<br />

West Coast.<br />

This new class of modern wellequipped<br />

ships is essential to support research<br />

encompassing marine physical,<br />

chemical, biological and geologic processes<br />

in coastal waters. <br />
