u-blox announced the SARA-
R510AWS module, a new
variant of the globally certified
SARA-R5 LTE-M cellular
module series. The module
serves a variety of applications
that require reliable and secure
cloud connectivity in industries
including asset tracking, smart
farming, sensor monitoring, and
connected medical equipment.
Building and commercializing
secure and scalable cloud-connected
IoT solutions that are easy
to maintain over their lifetime
can be challenging. In addition
to requiring deep expertise in
embedded development, networking,
cryptography, and cloud
architecture, developers need to
be proficient in handling a complex
software stack. As a result,
IoT projects can quickly snowball
into complex endeavors
with long development cycles
and high failure rates.
The SARA-R510AWS module
offers product developers a
straightforward path to secure
and scalable AWS cloud services,
considerably reducing
product development time and
effort and cutting time to market.
Thanks to a stripped-down command
interface, the module can
connect to AWS cloud using just
two dedicated AT commands.
Running validated AWS IoT
ExpressLink firmware, SARA-
R510AWS minimizes integration
efforts by taking care of the
key steps required to access the
AWS cloud, such as networking,
authentication, and secure data
transfer. The module also offers a
range of security features, including
a pre-provisioned hardwarebased
root of trust, secure boot,
and secure storage, as well as
encrypted communication to and
from the cloud, enabling secure
over-the-air updates of the host
processor and the module’s communication
firmware.

Miniature CMOS TCXO
Frequency control specialist,
Euroquartz has launched a new
range of miniature surface mount
temperature-compensated crystal
oscillators (TCXO) offering frequency
stability from ±2.5 ppm.
The new EM211T series offers
frequencies from 10 to 60 MHz
with CMOS outputs in a miniature
2 x 1.36 x 0.7 mm SMD
package. Standard output frequencies
available are 12, 20,
24, 25, 26, 40, 50 and 60 MHz.
The new EM211T series oscillators
are ideal for use in a wide
range of applications where high
accuracy is important with the
miniature package making these
TCXOs particularly suitable for
embedded systems. With LVC-
MOS output into 15pF load, tolerances
are available from ±2.5 to
±10 ppm over the industrial temperature
range (-40 to +85 °C),
frequency dependent. Typical
SSB phase noise at 25 °C ranges
between -85 and -154 dBc/Hz
for 50 MHz frequency output.
Frequency stability specifications
are ±1 ppm maximum
against ageing in first year, ±0.3
ppm maximum against voltage
change for ±5% change, ±0.3
ppm maximum against load
change for ±10% change and ±1
ppm maximum against reflow
(SMD type) for one reflow,
measured after 24 hours.
The components are housed in a
standard format 6-pad 2 x 1.36
mm SMD ceramic package with
hermetically sealed metal lid.
Power supply voltage options
are 1.8, 2.5 and 3.3 V ±5% with
current consumption of 8 mA
maximum at 3.3 V.
