are matched to 50 ohms with an
integrated DC blocking capacitor
at the output.
The MPA is easy to monitor and
control with an on-chip temperature-compensated
RF power
detector and fast-switching enable
circuit. Using an enhancement
mode (E-mode) pHEMT
process ensures only positive
supply voltages are required,
thus making single DC supply
operation possible. More Features:
High Power MMIC Amplifier
Operates Between 13.75 and
14.5 GHz
Qorvo‘s QPA1314T is a high
power MMIC amplifier fabricated
on Qorvo‘s production
0.15 um GaN on SiC process
(QGaN15), mounted to a high
thermal conductivity tab. Operating
between 13.75 and 14.5
GHz, it achieves 55 W saturated
output power. Operating frequency
extends to 12.75...15.35
GHz. To simplify system integration,
the QPA1314T is fully matched
to 50 ohms with integrated
DC blocking caps on both I/O
ports. Its RF ports are DC coupled
to ground for optimum ESD
performance. The QPA1314T is
ideal for supporting communications
and radar applications
in both commercial and military
markets. The QPA1314T is 100%
DC and RF tested on-wafer to
ensure compliance to electrical
specifications.
Design of Filters and
Resonator Technologies
This eBook explores advancements
in the design of filters and
resonator technologies. The first
article illustrates how EM simulation
has significantly improved
the development of complex filters.
The article illustrates the
process with the design of a 75
ohms filter covering 564 to 1200
MHz for a cable TV distribution
system. The second article continues
the design discussion using
a bandpass filter for 5G band
n257. The next article describes
an innovative evolution of YIG
resonators – reducing power consumption,
size and cost – and its
application to tunable filters. The
article discusses the evolution of
the YIG and how one company
is applying this improved capability
to tunable filters operating
above 2 GHz.
Ultra-miniature, Ultra-low
Phase Noise Oscillators
Mercury Electronics Europe has
announced a new range of ultraminiature,
ultra-low phase noise
crystal oscillators that are ideal
for use in embedded automotive
applications. The new surface
mount HJ22 oscillators offer
15 pF load LVCMOS output at
frequencies from 20 to 50 MHz
with typical RMS phase jitter
of just 48 fs, 300 fs maximum.
Phase noise characteristics of
-153 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset
and -166 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz
offset (49.152 MHz output frequency,
3.3 V input model) are
significantly better when compared
with standard oscillators.
Housed in an ultra-miniature surface
mount package measuring
just 2.5 x 2 x 0.9 mm, the new
HJ22 oscillators are available
with 1.8, 2.5 or 3.3 V power supply
requirements and offer typical
current consumption of just 3
mA, 5 mA maximum. Frequency
stability over both commercial
(-10 to +70 °C) and industrial
(-40 to +85 °C) can be specified
as ±25, ±50 or ±100 ppm
as standard. MEC Europe can
also provide non-standard frequency
stability specifications.
Specifications include ageing of
±3 ppm/year maximum for first
year, start-up time of 0.8 ms typical,
5 ms maximum, rise/fall time
of 5 ns typical, 10 ns maximum
and duty cycle (symmetry) of
50% ±5%. Output enable/disable
is provided as standard.
20 GHz Discrete GaAs pHEMT
Die
RFMW announced design and
sales support for a discrete
180-Micron pHEMT which operates
from DC to 20 GHz. The
QPD2018D is designed using
Qorvo’s proven standard 0.25
µm power pHEMT production
process. This process features
advanced techniques to optimize
microwave power and efficiency
at high drain bias operating conditions.
The QPD2018D typically
provides 22 dBm of output
power at P1dB with gain of
14 dB and 55% power-added
efficiency at 1 dB compression
making it appropriate for high
efficiency applications. Bias
voltage is 8 V for broadband
wireless, aerospace and defense
applications.
2.92 mm Field Replaceable
Connectors accommodate
Multiple Launch Pins
RFMW announced availability
of a portfolio of field replaceable
2.92 mm connectors. The
San-tron portfolio is comprised
of field replaceable connectors
capable of accepting 0.009”,
0.012”, and 0.020” diameter
launch pins with 1/2” square,
3/8” square, or .625” 2-hole
flange configurations. The connectors
offer low SWR of
