masi, i.e. farms, which are distinguishable both for their unique form <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> their characteristic typology.<br />

The typology of these buildings changes slightly from <strong>on</strong>e area to another due to the habits of the<br />

local inhabitants <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> also as a result of the material available to c<strong>on</strong>struct them.<br />

Demographic characteristics<br />

At the beginning of the third millennium the residents of the Valley increased to around 12,881<br />

people, (the equivalent of 2% of the province). From the table you can see that in the last 10 years the<br />

populati<strong>on</strong> growth rate of the entire territory has been equal to 3.2%, but it is also evident that there<br />

are notable inc<strong>on</strong>sistencies when looking at populati<strong>on</strong> growth of individual municipalities. Both<br />

Praso <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> Pieve di B<strong>on</strong>o have experienced depopulati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
