Valle dei Mòcheni is characterised by the presence of a c<strong>on</strong>siderable number of houses which are<br />

inhabited <strong>on</strong>ly in certain periods. They amount to 40% of the whole, which is little more than the<br />

province’s average. The remaining 60% of houses are inhabited (Table 5). The main reas<strong>on</strong> for failure<br />

to use buildings is c<strong>on</strong>nected to the fact that these are sec<strong>on</strong>d homes, mainly used for holidays. Even<br />

complete failure-to-use is <strong>on</strong>e of the main reas<strong>on</strong>s for which buildings are not inhabited (Table 23).<br />
