Dealing With Difficult People and
Situations
This one day course is of value to anyone
whose working environment brings them
into contact with the general public, e.g.
school sportsfields, local authority amenity
land, village or community sports facilities
or play areas, public parks and gardens,
theme and leisure parks.
Inevitably, such people will meet
situations of potential conflict and
misunderstanding. Such events demand
well-developed communication skills if
they are to be dealt with sensitively, with
the best possible outcome being achieved
for all concerned.
At the end of the course, delegates will be
confident that they can deal satisfactorily
with difficult situations and difficult
people.
Topics considered include the definition,
causes and stages of conflict, our natural
responses and how to adapt them, words
that work, body language and how it can
help or hinder. The course outline is
adaptable and can be tailor-made to
meet clients’ particular demands or
situations.

trained groundsmen and greenkeepers for
more than twenty years and fully
understands the particular challenges they
face.
Lantra Basic Tree Survey & Inspection
This one-day course aims to provide
specific tree survey and inspection training
at a basic level for contractors, highway
engineers, tree wardens, grounds
maintenance staff, rangers and other
persons of a non-arboricultural
background, or with limited arboricultural
knowledge, to allow them to identify
obvious defects from ground level and
then to report their finding to a line
manager.
The course is particularly useful for
persons employed as local authority
highway inspectors, forestry, woodland or
arboricultural employees, estate or park
rangers, farmers and other landowners or
their employees who may have a
responsibility for trees in the course of
their work.
Additionally, it may be of interest to those
who work with trees in a voluntary
capacity.
As well as the theory work, delegates
spend time outside during the day, putting
into practice the techniques they have
learned.

Essential Management Skills course
for Head Groundsmen, Greenkeepers
and their Deputies
As our initial course for 2011/12 was
oversubscribed, we are delighted to offer
a repeat course at the prestigious venue
of The All England Lawn Tennis Club,
Wimbledon on Thursday 22 March and
Thursday 24 May 2012
The course will again be led by
recognised industry trainer and adviser,
Frank Newberry.
The two workshops are separated by two
months, allowing participants to
implement their learning from Day One
back in the workplace and then bring
case studies to the table for discussion on
Day Two.
Five CPD Credits (awarded by BIGGA -
The British & International Golf
Greenkeepers Association) plus a
Pitchcare attendance certificate are
awarded to delegates who complete the
course.
